Be fore-warned regarding the reviews on the size of the bag (you could fit a couple of 40-pound toddlers inside the bag). The bag was well-constructed but the rivets on the strap attachments could be a little more uniform in their installation. A half-sized bag would be a great alternative and installation of double shoulder-straps in-lieu of the single-strap. Customer service, return of the bag (aside from eating sipping costs, back and forth) and credit to account was expeditious.
We received the order and were very pleased with the quality. I hope one day they will make some that are not as deep. I expect this bag to last many years.
We operate a 7 acre vegetable farm, and we are always looking to improve our harvesting efficiency. For the last 2 years we have used a cheaper, smaller harvesting bag we found on Amazon. It worked okay, but we had to keep stitching them together and they were never made to last very long. These are the ultimate harvesting bag! They are extremely tough, and we plan to use them for things like cucumbers, peppers, and we have even picked spring mix into them. Anything where we don't want to drag a crate along. They are quite long and deep, but we figured out we can just use a series of carabiners to shorten the height if we need to for smaller loads. They're really not too big and you can always tighten the shoulder strap too. We wanted a nice generous size and this is it. We felt like it was a very decent price for what you get!
My only complaint would be that his bag is a bit too large for small loads or delicate items. I am 5'11", and can't quite reach my hand down to the bottom of the bag to gently set down something like a tomato.
That said, the bag is a monster. I've mostly used mine in combination with the grass sickle, and it is amazing. Even if I take a handful of 4' long grass and jam it into the bag such that the grass bends in half and repeat until the bag is packed full everything discharges when I release the catch with just a few shakes. Similarly, even crumpled masses of hop bines (covered in scratchy hairs used to cling as they climb) discharged easily. I can only imagine how well this must work with something more "flowable" like apples or potatoes. The shoulder strap is extremely comfortable for all day use.
You will not be sorry if you buy this bag. Incredibly durable! My harvesters and I have been using these for about 4 years now in VERY rugged conditions (no orchards here, we're talking hiking through the thick, sharp, pokey vegetation of the Rocky Mtns while collecting). They still look brand new! We are impressed to say the least.
