Soil & Water: Greens like full sun except in hot summer climates where they prefer some shade, especially in the afternoon. Add plenty of compost to the soil to encourage rapid growth. Water evenly and moderately to prevent bitterness.
Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 4 weeks before transplanting outside, or sow seed directly as soon as the soil is workable. Make successive plantings every 10-14 days for a continuous harvest. In mild climates, greens can be sown from spring through fall.
Harvesting & Storage: Begin harvesting individual leaves after the center rosette has begun to develop. You can begin harvesting at 6" by picking outside leaves. I felt a bit nervous to start gardening but had faith that these organic, well-treated seeds were a good start. They've grown so quickly and are almost ready to pick! Thank you Peaceful Valley for an amazing resource to buy healthy and safe seeds!
This is my absolute Favorite Organic Lettuce Mix; for a lite salad all by itself with vinaigrette, or try with other salad vegetables or fruit. Great for sandwiches too! I have successfully grown it both indoors as well as outdoors. It’s a real pleaser and goes with most meal types
I grow this mix for my own salads and to provide high quality greens for my rabbit. It never disappoints and saves a ton of money. I can even grow them in window boxes since I don't have much space!
Planted these on 10/13 and today, on 10/18 they are coming up strongly! Look forward to using them in a couple of weeks!
Direct sowed in September....these are doing great....made a nice little patch of greens for snaking on.
