Hi I'm Virginia from the Peaceful Valley nursery. Have you been noticing chard with holes in it and sunflowers with little pecked holes? Then you need a scarecrow and I'm going to show you how to make one.

To make your scarecrow your going to need some old clothes preferably a button down shirt, it makes it easier, some twine I used hemp twine, some netting though it's not necessary it makes it a lot easier, burlap I sowed this burlap bag, some straw thats very important. I have some accessories here makes it a little fun and bamboo seven foot pole and afour foot pole. First you can stuff your netting or if your not using netting rubber band off the arms of your shirt and stuff your shirt. Next after you've stuffed your netted arms stick them on either end of the four foot pole then were going to lash it to the seven foot pole about six inches from the top with about five to six feet of twine. First your going to start with a clove hitch make two loops in the same direction and put one behind the other and over the top tighten it up about six inches down. Then your going to put it over your four foot pole under, over, under, over, your going to do this about three or four times then your going to wrap in between the two poles make that nice and tight again about three or four times put it under last piece and then to really finish it off make an X over your pole put this under and then slip your loose end under the cross of the X. Next it's time to dress your scarecrow this is why the button up shirt is a lot easier than anything else the bigger the shirt the better. Now we're going to get ready to attach the pants. You want to connect your two legs or if your not using the netting you just want to tie off the end of your pants so you can stuff them. With some twine stuff these in the pants now attach them to your frame with twine again you're gonna make some twine suspenders so you want to cut two pieces of twine about three to four feet depending on how tall your scarecrow is. Just attach them to your front just like suspenders on your front and back belt loop so they can hang off the frame and now you're going to want to stand your scarecrow up so you can work with him. I'm just gonna lean him against this apricot tree here very nice stuff them in here and don't worry about the pole its just gonna stick out the back that's how he is and you can take your straw and fill him up. Im just going to button him up and puff out his chest so it'll make him look a little scarier to those critters. After you've sown your bag and turned it inside out you can use um... some water proof paint markers to draw your face. Now just stuff it with straw cinch it up at the bottom tie it around with twine and your ready to go. Nows the fun part your going to put your head up on top right up against the shoulders now some accessories a hat put that on there bandana put that on there this is looking great just tie some bird scare tape anywhere really. Now you just need to name your scarecrow put him out in your field and grow organic for life.
