The clever crows (here’s a great site with their calls and story) will be spooked by your scarecrow, and other birds will be even more frightened.

What will your scarecrow look like?

Come make a scarecrow at our fun workshop here at the Peaceful Valley store on Saturday morning, October 15, 9:30 to 11:30. Bring old clothes, shoes, and a hat for your new addition—and any other creative wardrobe. We’ll provide all the other materials, and some accessories too. Only $15 per scarecrow, so if two of you build together you only pay one fee. Kids welcome with an adult.

Workshop members also get 10% off almost everything in our store.

Virginia Foster of our Nursery will lead the workshop and help you come up with a scary creature!

Build at home with Virginia’s materials from the video: She uses Multipurpose Mesh Tubing as casings for the arms and legs, builds a structure with Bamboo Stakes, makes a head with Burlap, ties it all together with Hemp Twine, and decorates the finished scarecrow with Bird Scare Tape (choose your scariest colors).
