Since we live in a microclimate cooler than all our surrounding neighbors, (we’re sometimes referred to as Little Siberia), we like to get an early start with the summer veggies. We use a little hoophousewith block & pallet tables and a heating cable for bottom heat.

We purchased some plants for Peaceful Valley and we’re also starting some of our saved seed. By shifting the smaller seedlings into 2 gallon grow bags, we’ll have more established plants by the time we’re able to plant. That usually isn’t until the end of May!

This year we also decided to compare a couple of the pottings soils available at PV. The Happy Frog bag is much prettier but we’ll see if the soil inside gives prettier results. Our gardening partner & neighbor, Roger, is in the photos.
