Origin France Rustic, used for table fruit & oil. Early producer; adapts easily to varied climates and soils. Medium vigor. Light green leaves. Harvested green for table olives and black for oil production. Ripens late. Partly self fertile. Good, consistent producer. Pollinated by Manzanilla or Leccino.
Evergreen, long-lived (500+ years), beautiful ornamental tree with soft gray-green foliage. Slow growing to about 25-30'. Sometimes crops do not occur due to climate or biennial bearing habits. Even if a pollinator is not required, it will help increase yields (Pendolino is a good choice as an all-around pollinator). Drought resistant, grow in shallow, alkaline soils with little fertilization. Avoid over watering and provide good drainage. Thrive in hot, dry summers but adequate in coastal regions. Minimum winter temperatures shouldn't drop below 22°-25°F (green fruit will be damaged at 32°F), but average winter temperatures above 50°F will inhibit fruiting. Plant in early spring to establish before winter. Trees are 18"-30" tall, less than pencil caliper (0.125"-0.25").
